This is how to deal with annoyances, frustrations, and setbacks. ๐คโก๏ธ๐
Plus . . . Olympic innovation and Korean fire chicken!
1. WHY NOT? An idea for the Olympics: Intergenerational relays! ย ๐๐ฟโโ๏ธ๐
๐๐ผโโ๏ธ
Happy 2024 Olympics, everyone. So far the Games have been great. But could they be even better?
Thatโs the topic of my latest Washington Post column โ which offers a few proposals for modernizing (and perhaps electrifying) the Olympics. Among them:
Olympic Cooking (Top Chef meets Eurovision meets March Madness!)
Relay teams with 4 competitors of different ages (under age 20, age 20-39, age 40-60, 60+) to bust stereotypes about older athletes.
Allowing every citizen of the world to participate and represent their home country in an online competition.

2. PINK RECOMMENDS. Food and Drink Edition! ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ธ๐ฅ
Instead of the usual grab bag of READ-WATCH-LISTEN-TRY recommendations, today we have an actual theme!
READ: I love just about every type of food (except cilantro, which is the devilโs creation.) But my favorite cuisine is Korean. And this is my favorite Korean cookbook โ written by the great Eric Kim, full of outstanding recipes, and joy to read.
WATCH: YouTube is a great source of culinary know-how. And few YouTubers do it better than Maangchi, whose recipe for cheese buldak (spicy fire chicken with cheese) Iโve made roughly a gazillion times.
LISTEN: Spirits and cocktails arenโt for everyone. But if those are your jam, as they are mine, youโll enjoy the Life Behind Bars podcast, hosted by two bartending gurus. (Their book, The Oxford Companion to Spirits and Cocktails, is also excellent.)
TRY: Like any self-respecting son of the midwest, I love peanut butter. But I always avoided โnaturalโ peanut butter, because the pool of oil that collects at the top is so annoying. Then I learned a solution: Store the jar upside down. Youโre welcome. (HT: Dave Pell)
